Ni John Fru Ndi (born 7 July 1941 near Bamenda, Northwest Province) is the founder and leader of Cameroon's Social Democratic Front (SDF). He was that party's presidential candidate in 1992 and 2004. In 1992 he made a strong showing against President Paul Biya, losing with 36% against Biya's 40%. Along with other opposition parties, he boycotted the next election in October 1997. In October 2004 he took second place, but only 17.4% against about 71% for Biya.<ref>Elections in Cameroon, African Elections Database.</ref>
