The Education of Qatar:
In recent years Qatar has been very conscience in the area of education. Along with the country’s free health care to every citizen, every child has free education from kindergarten through college. Universities and colleges from the United States and Canada have been opening satellite campuses, in the country at Education City, Qatar, including Weill Medical College, Carnegie Mellon University, Georgetown University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Texas A&M University and College of the North Atlantic-Qatar.
In November of 2002 the Emir Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani created, by decree number 37, the Supreme Education Council, which includes among its’ council members the Emir’s wife, Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al-Missnad. The council directs and controls education for all levels from the pre-school level through the university level, including the "Education for a New Era" Reform initiative.
