Faerie Tale Theatre, fully Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre, was a children's television program that ran from 1982 to 1987. Shelley Duvall served as narrator, host and co-executive producer of the program, and occasionally starred in episodes.

Faerie Tale Theatre was released on VHS in the late 1980s and early 1990s. In 2004 and 2005, Starmaker2 released the 26 episodes first separately, and then in a 4-disc (later 6-disc) DVD box-set. It is now being distributed by Koch Vision.

[edit] Episodes

Every episode opened with Shelley Duvall introducing herself and welcoming the viewer to the show, after which she would provide a brief blurb of the story that would follow. All the episodes featured adaptations of fairy tales performed live-action in costume by many well-known actors, and directed by such diverse directors as Tim Burton and Francis Ford Coppola. Twenty-seven episodes were made in total, but only twenty-six episodes have been released on VHS and DVD. The nineteenth episode, which is entitled Grim Party is a sort of "reunion special," but is presumed to be lost, although Starmaker 2 tried to have it released on DVD in 2004.
